Submit a Quilt Square

Threads of Life!

Donate Life Northwest invites donor families, living donors, recipients, and transplant candidates to participate in creating a Threads of Life Quilt.

The new quilt panel will be unveiled in April, National Donate Life Month, and be available after May 1st for display to any organization or group wishing to help inspire individuals to sign up on the donor registry as organ, eye, and tissue donors.

Design Criteria and How to Submit a Quilt Square
Measure Twice, Cut Once!

  • IMPORTANT: The actual design – pictures/writing/embroidery/trim - may be no larger than 7” x 7”. If you plan a contrasting border trim, include it within the 7” x 7” measurement. Nothing outside the dotted line will show on the finished quilt.
  • IMPORTANT: The entire piece of fabric must measure 8” x 8” to allow for trimming and seam allowance.
  • To make it stand out, center any writing at least ½ “ in from the 7” x 7” edge.
  • All materials, decorations and ink must be permanent and dry-cleanable.
  • Thick batting or backing may cause the square to pucker when sewn into the quilt.
  • Include your name, address, phone number, email with the quilt square submission

A scrapbook accompanies each quilt. Quilt square submitters may include:

  • a brief description of the square
  • name of the quilt square designer
  • full name of person(s) the square honors/remembers
  • date and type of donation/transplant, if applicable
  • a 250 word or less personal history of the individual being honored or remembered
  • photograph of honoree.

Preference will be given to those stories not included on any of the previous quilts.

Submit quilt squares anytime until February 1st..
